When we spend time…

There’s nothing like a party to make you remember things. Things about yourself and things about others. While we don’t have a lot of parties at school, at least not like the ones you have outside of work, there comes a lot of realizations with spending time around others.

People you gravitate towards, people you want to run away from- people who need a soapbox to stand on, and people who seem to actually listen.

When I find myself in these social situations, I love to observe. More than that, I like to reflect (mostly with my wife) about those observations.

Why does X person do that?

Where did that comment come from?

It lends itself to the deeper reflection, that there are things I admire and want to emulate in others. There are things I don’t want to be also.

When you are presented with your next social gathering at school, take a few moments and observe- especially if you are the kind of person who likes to dive into social situations. People will show you who they are, you need to give them a few moments.
